Dalis’ biography

General about the race

Tieflings are planetouched — descended from evil creatures of the outer planes — demons, devils, evil deities and other evil creatures. Tieflings tend to have an unsettling air about them, and most people are uncomfortable around them, whether they are aware of the tiefling's unsavory ancestry or not. While some look like normal humans, others retain physical characteristics derived from their ancestor, such as horns, pointed teeth, cloven hooves for feet, tails, red skin, etc.

Description from Volo’s Guide

HAER’DALIS (chaotic neutral, tiefling male, blade) is a rarity in this plane - he has the blood of a fiend within his ancestry, giving him an unusual appearance and an aura that makes “primes” (dwellers of the Prime Material Plane) nervous. The bard makes up for this with his wit and charm, having crossed the planes with a fellow group of troubadours who have set up a temporary home in a new playhouse beneath the Five Flagons Inn in the Bridge District of Athkatla. The playhouse has garnered accolades since its opening, although the tiefling himself has recently been curiously absent.

Biography

When asked about his past, HAER'DALIS states that he is from the city of Sigil, a nexus of the planes and the ever-changing domain of the Lady of Pain. He claims he cannot explain it better than that, as the planars defy description by their very nature. Haer'Dalis traveled with a troupe of players, tieflings of plane-touched heritage like he, and they put on masterful productions to amuse both cambion and common berk alike. An indiscretion led to the troupe fleeing to the Prime Material Plane... here... which didn't bother Haer'Dalis much. He says that he is a Doomguard, believing in the inevitable decay of all things to make way for the new. The troupe has divided, but the tiefling bard is confident that new experience can only come of it.

What he says of himself

- I am a bird, a nightingale, a wren! I am a dark, scorched hound of chaos come to see this world again.

- I am a tiefling: I am a half-elf and while my father was of the fair folk, my mother was no human. I am a poet and a warrior-bard, beneath this poet's skin I am a planeswalker and a Doomguard. I was a Doomguard once and perhaps I am one Still. Though I have left the Planes behind me, 'tis true they have not left me. We are the guardians of decay, the saboteurs of meaning, the agents of destiny.

And that destiny is that all things falter, all things fail. The multiverse is a snake that caught its tail in its mouth... and begun to swallow.

- In Sigil, only one could be as good as I and she is my half-sister. I am the best swordsman of the Prime Material, second only to Drizzt himself.

- I have survived the Outer Planes and a year of service in the retinue of a Baalor. He had no name, or at least none he chose to give... He was just another Baalor in the Blood War, and I marched endlessly in his retinue through the Quasielemental Plane of Dust... I sang burlesque songs about the parentage of his enemies and so he let me live. It was that simple and that complex... I was his favorite and he, perhaps, was mine.

- I'm an actor. I was Laudanus in Shertzwin's "Necropoli", Monsignor D'Artuzzi in "The Saving of New Crecia", Elminster himself in Master Geddarm's "To Flay a Mage", and a yugoloth butler in "A Comedy of Terrors", we were rehearsing for Picoccio's "Three Days in the Ether". I do believe we've been on the Prime Material for almost three seasons...

- Like all actors, I am an extrovert and even more so since my late continement.

- All under the auspices of the famous Sigil theatre troupe, residing beneath the Five Flagons Inn. As our name denotes, we come from the city of Sigil which lies upon another plane of the multiverse or, more appropriately, upon a hub or node where many of the planes collide.
